The U.S. Embassy in Kampala, Uganda is inviting applications for the position of Procurement Agent. This full-time opportunity is open to qualified applicants interested in procurement, supply chain management, vendor sourcing, and contract administration within the U.S. Mission in Uganda.

The successful candidate will join the General Services Office (GSO) and support procurement operations for the Embassy and its affiliated agencies by managing purchasing activities, supplier engagement, market research, contract administration, and inventory support.

Position Summary

  • Position: Procurement Agent
  • Location: Kampala, Uganda
  • Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
  • Appointment: Indefinite, subject to successful completion of the probation period
  • Application Deadline: 2 August 2026

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Procuring goods and services required by the U.S. Mission.
  • Identifying and evaluating suppliers through market research and vendor vetting.
  • Managing purchase orders, contracts, blanket purchase agreements, and procurement documentation.
  • Supporting contract negotiations and procurement planning.
  • Monitoring pricing trends and local market conditions.
  • Assisting with inventory control and logistics processes.
  • Providing guidance and training on procurement systems and procedures to internal staff.
  • Ensuring procurement activities comply with established regulations and ethical standards.

Knowledge

Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of:

  • Procurement regulations, procedures, and purchasing practices.
  • Contract administration.
  • Local market conditions and pricing.
  • Vendor sourcing and procurement planning.

Language Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Good working proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Fluency in Luganda (reading, writing, and speaking).

Skills

Successful applicants should possess:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • High ethical standards and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail and document management skills.

  • Academic transcripts confirming the required education.
  • Proof of citizenship (National ID or passport bio-data page).
