The Youth Adaptation Network (YAN), established in 2020 through the Global Youth Call to Action on Adaptation, is a global platform dedicated to empowering and connecting young leaders to drive climate adaptation at the local level. It aims to transform knowledge into tangible action and foster collaboration among youth-led organizations focused on climate resilience.

Network Goals

🔹 Build connections among young people and organizations to strengthen the youth adaptation movement.
🔹 Empower youth to lead impactful climate adaptation projects.
🔹 Ensure youth perspectives are central to global adaptation efforts.

Membership Options

1. In-Country Focal Points (Africa)

• One youth-led organization per African country
• Must have a registered status, at least 2 years of operational experience, and a focus on climate change, adaptation, or youth engagement.

2. General Members (Global)

• Open to all young people and youth-led organizations worldwide.

Selection Process

1. Application Submission – Apply by 19th May
2. Shortlisting – Finalists announced 26th May
3. Video Submission – One-minute video outlining your vision, due 1st June
4. Public Voting – Vote from 4th June – 11th June
5. Onboarding – Selected Focal Points announced 16th June

Responsibilities of In-Country Focal Points

🔸 12-month voluntary commitment
🔸 Nominate two YAN Contact Persons
🔸 Organize Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day (October 12th)
🔸 Share local insights through blogs or quarterly newsletters
🔸 Participate in regular network meetings
🔸 Engage youth in the GCA Toolkit on Climate Adaptation and Leadership
