Join the Mediterranean Youth Water Hackathon ( The winning teams will share €4,000)

Are you a young activist who is enthusiastic about innovation and sustainability? In order to address the potential and problems within the Water, Energy, Food, and Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus, the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) is calling young innovators between the ages of 18 and 35 to work together and develop innovative solutions for the Mediterranean Youth Water Hackathon.

The WEFE (Water, Energy, Food, and Ecosystems) Nexus is an approach that acknowledges the interconnectedness and mutual reliance of these sectors. For instance, energy generation often depends on water for cooling or hydroelectric power, while food production relies on both water and energy for irrigation, processing, and distribution.

The goal is to find innovative solutions that tackle the challenges and opportunities within the WEFE Nexus. This might include developing more efficient irrigation systems or exploring alternative energy sources that have a smaller water footprint.

The initiative seeks to inspire and engage young entrepreneurs to create sustainable solutions for WEFE Nexus challenges in the Mediterranean region. By fostering collaboration and creative thinking, participants will be encouraged to develop business ideas that positively impact both society and the environment.

Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 1 December 2024
