The Centre for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD) invites applications from qualified Bangladeshi journalists for a Media Fellowship designed to support in-depth and impactful reporting on key climate change issues and negotiation outcomes at the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP 31), which will be held in Turkey in November 2026. This fellowship aims to strengthen climate journalism by enabling selected reporters to engage directly with global climate negotiations and bring critical insights to both national and international audiences.
The fellowship will run for six months, from 1 June 2026 to 30 November 2026. Applicants must have a confirmed plan to attend COP31 in Turkey in November 2026, including secured funding and accreditation. They must hold both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, or a related field from a reputed university, and have a minimum of three years of professional experience in nationally recognized print, electronic, or digital media outlets. A strong understanding of key climate change themes such as mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, climate finance, and just transition is required. Strong writing, reporting, and analytical skills in Bangla and/or English are essential, and prior experience in reporting on climate, environment, development issues, or international conferences will be considered an advantage. Applicants must also demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines and publish in recognized media platforms.
Selected fellows will be expected to report on key developments, negotiations, and emerging issues at COP 31. They will produce and publish at least two high-quality media reports in print, broadcast, or digital formats during or immediately after the conference. They will actively participate in CPRD-hosted events, briefings, and knowledge-sharing sessions both at COP 31 and in Bangladesh throughout the fellowship period. They may also be required to provide concise updates, insights, or short dispatches for CPRD communication channels and submit a brief post-COP fellowship report highlighting key learnings and media impact.
The fellowship offers an honorarium of BDT 43,200, excluding VAT and tax, along with an official CPRD Media Fellowship Certificate upon successful completion. Fellows will also gain access to CPRD’s knowledge resources, expert briefings, and seminars to support their reporting work.
Interested applicants are invited to submit an updated CV, copies of two recently published works preferably related to climate or development issues, and a short statement of interest of up to 500 words outlining their motivation and reporting focus. The application deadline is 15 May 2026, and submissions should be sent to info@cprdbd.org.
