PAID FELLOWSHIP : Apply for Waging Justice for Women Fellowship Program

With the goal of empowering the upcoming generation of feminist attorneys to promote rights for women and girls in their communities, the Clooney Foundation for Justice (CFJ) is happy to announce the launch of its second year of the Waging Justice for Women Fellowship.

In order to address injustice against women and girls, the Clooney Foundation for Justice's Waging Justice for Women (WJW) initiative is working to change the legal system from a tool of oppression to a driver of change. In close collaboration with grassroots organisations, they use legal empowerment, strategic litigation, and public advocacy. The fellowships will be full-time, one-year opportunities that run from January 2025 – December 2025.

Fellows support at least one strategic litigation case intended to advance women and girls' rights in national, regional, or international courts or UN mechanisms. Fellows should expect to be based in the home country of their host organisation and have the legal right to work in that country. The Fellowship offers an annual salary and the chance to work with leading human rights organisations on gender justice.

Ten early-career women attorneys in sub-Saharan Africa are the recipients of one-year fully funded fellowships from CFJ and its partner organisations. The Waging Justice for Women Fellowship Program at CFJ aims to provide African advocates for gender justice with the resources they need to fight injustice in the legal system. These organisations collaborate with WJW on important topics like getting rid of laws that prevent girls from attending school, ending child marriage, holding people accountable for acts of gender-based violence, and opposing economic inequality and criminalisation based on assumptions about gender.

Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 4 August 2024.
