PAID TRAINEESHIP IN BRUSSELS: Apply for the European Commission (EC) Blue Book Paid Traineeship 2026 for young graduates from anywhere in the world (monthly stipend available)

Applications are open for the 2026 edition of the European Commission’s prestigious Blue Book traineeship—let’s gooo! This fully paid five-month internship offers graduates a unique chance to gain practical experience at the heart of the European Union’s decision-making and administrative processes. Open to applicants from all over the globe, the programme places young professionals in a multicultural setting where they can grow both personally and professionally while contributing meaningfully to the work of EU institutions.

Those selected will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of how European policies are shaped, while also building a strong network of international peers. Trainees work alongside experienced EU staff, gaining valuable insights and developing essential workplace skills that will benefit their careers long after the programme ends.

To be considered, candidates must have completed a full cycle of higher education—at least the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree—and be ready to submit official documentation showing their final academic results and qualification level. Applicants must not have more than six weeks of previous professional experience in any EU institution, agency, or body, including positions with Members of the European Parliament or at the European Court of Justice.

Language skills are also a key requirement. For administrative roles, EU citizens must demonstrate fluency in two official EU languages, with one being either English, French, or German at a high level (C1 or C2), and the second language at B2 level or above. Non-EU applicants are only required to show fluency in one working language. For those applying to the translation stream within the Directorate-General for Translation, candidates must be able to translate into their main language (typically their native tongue) from two other EU languages—one of which must be English, French, or German at an advanced level, and another EU language at a minimum of B2.

The traineeship is offered twice a year, with around a thousand spots available during each intake. Selected participants receive a monthly grant of €1,493.36 to support their stay while gaining invaluable experience in one of the world’s most influential political and administrative bodies.
