The Ashinaga Foundation, based in Tokyo, Japan, is seeking a Career Development and Graduate Support Coordinator. This NGO aims to provide educational and emotional support to young individuals who have lost one or both parents. Expanding its reach globally, Ashinaga focuses on supporting disadvantaged youth in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The organization is currently recruiting a Career Development and Graduate Support Coordinator to join their international team, specifically to assist Ashinaga Africa Initiative (AAI) Scholars and Graduates. This role encompasses two main responsibilities:
1. Collaborating with the Professional Network and Career Development team (PND) to guide AAI Scholars in navigating their career paths during their university years.
2. Partnering with the Graduates and Alumni team (GAT) to foster positive engagement among AAI Graduates.
This position involves working closely with various team members within AAI and Ashinaga's regional offices (US, UK, France, Brazil, Uganda, and Senegal).
Job Details and Responsibilities:
Start Date: Mid-October 2023
Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo
Your role will encompass the following responsibilities:
1. **Career Development Support for AAI Scholars:**
- Develop and implement a process to enhance the career readiness and professional skills of AAI Scholars.
- Conduct coaching sessions for AAI Scholars on career journey navigation, including skill acquisition, crafting CVs, cover letters, and interview skills.
- Assist in reviewing, designing, and implementing the Ashinaga Internship Placement program (AIP) through opportunity sourcing and evaluation.
- Design and execute career development workshops for students at different professional/career stages, collaborating with the Student Relations Team.
- Gather and analyze data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
2. **Support for Graduates and Alumni:**
- Provide direct support to allocated AAI Graduates.
- Organize and support Graduates/Alumni events, engaging the Graduates and Alumni Association.
- Aid regional offices in the AAI graduation process, including data capturing.
- Offer coaching sessions to Graduates interested in starting businesses in sub-Saharan Africa or seeking general entrepreneurship advice.
- Supervise the work of GAT interns and other staff members.
- Perform other tasks as required by the GAT Manager.
Benefits:
- Annual contracts with a salary range of 4,123,200 yen to 4,842,000 yen, commensurate with experience.
- One-year contract with the possibility of renewal.

Eligibility:
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in English (native or fluent)
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of two years of relevant work experience in a relevant field
- Understanding of the African job market and industry trends
- Familiarity with entrepreneurship
- Knowledge of executing career development and coaching strategies
- Experience in building and managing relationships with business partners
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Optional (Desired Skills):
- French or Japanese language proficiency
- Strategy design experience
- Data collection and analysis experience
- Familiarity with CRMs like Salesforce or Insightly
