REMOTE CLIMATE JOB: Youth Climate Justice Fund is hiring a remote Community Associate

The Youth Climate Justice Fund (YCJF) is currently in search of a dedicated and skilled individual to join their team as a Community Associate. This role is crucial in helping grantee partners develop their capacities through peer support and collaborative efforts. The associate will assist youth leaders in achieving their objectives, with a focus on fostering youth-to-youth mentorship and development.

If you are passionate about working alongside communities facing the climate crisis, this opportunity may be ideal for you. The role involves actively supporting grantees by offering guidance on their projects, setting goals, and ensuring they meet reporting standards. It is perfect for someone eager to grow in community development and advocacy within the climate justice arena.

YCJF, launched during New York Climate Week 2023, has been instrumental in offering funding and resources to grassroots climate movements. Through their recent funding rounds, they have supported over 90 youth-led organizations across more than 45 countries. The role of the Community Associate will help continue this vital work, ensuring that grantee partners have the tools and resources they need to be successful.

The position is remote, with a preference for applicants based in the Global South, and is a full-time role compensated at $155 per day. The successful candidate will enter a renewable consultancy agreement facilitated through YCJF’s Fiscal Sponsor in the United States. Besides competitive pay, the position also offers vacation time and other benefits.

Key responsibilities include working closely with the Community Manager to support grantees in meeting their development goals, maintaining administrative oversight of the community’s progress, and collaborating with the grantmaking team to provide assistance where it’s most needed. You will also contribute to planning and executing capacity-building sessions and contribute to the YCJF’s efforts to reform traditional philanthropic practices.

The ideal candidate should have experience in community engagement, capacity building, and a commitment to addressing social injustices. Passion for climate justice and experience working with youth movements, especially in underserved communities, are also important.

The role offers a unique opportunity to make an impact in the fight against the climate crisis and to champion underrepresented voices. Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in other languages such as Spanish, French, or Swahili is highly valued. YCJF encourages applications from individuals belonging to marginalized groups. If you are passionate about equity and climate action, this role provides an exciting platform to contribute meaningfully.
