The Fundraising Officer will play a crucial role in securing sustainable funding through corporate partnerships, trusts, and foundations. This position will help boost the organization’s income by broadening our donor base, enhancing current donor retention, and maximizing fundraising opportunities.

WasteAid is an international NGO focused on environmental and economic empowerment in low- and middle-income countries. We support emerging green businesses and grassroots entrepreneurs, aiming to improve livelihoods, promote circular economy innovations, and foster a cleaner future.

Our primary efforts target reducing plastic, organic, textile, and e-waste pollution in areas lacking formal waste management systems. We partner with public, private, and community-based organizations to address environmental, economic, and social challenges, working through three flagship programs: Wastepreneur, WasteAid Circular Economy Network, and First Step Resource Management.

Purpose of Role:

The role supports the Head of Fundraising and Head of Trusts in developing effective income generation strategies and managing partner relationships. Responsibilities include researching new fundraising opportunities, developing quality funding proposals, engaging with potential and current donors, and promoting WasteAid’s objectives to increase public awareness and support.

Income Generation:

- Assist in researching and developing potential income-generating opportunities.
- Identify and secure new supporters/partners, ensuring effective engagement with current ones.
- Manage relationships with donors, coordinating staff fundraising activities, and providing administrative support.

Raising WasteAid’s Profile:

- Promote WasteAid’s aims, increasing public awareness and support.
- Collaborate with project teams and PR functions to implement donor partnership plans.

Marketing and Communication:

- Develop fundraising materials to attract donors.
- Maintain effective communication with donors, keeping them informed about WasteAid’s achievements.
- Utilize communication platforms, including social media, to promote fundraising efforts.

Other Duties:

- Monitor and report on fundraising activities and performance.
- Ensure fundraising activities comply with regulations and best practices.
- Stay updated on new fundraising developments and initiatives.

Person Specification:

- At least 2 years of experience in fundraising/income generation with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience in generating funds from corporate partners, trusts, and foundations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Willingness to learn, travel, and work in a collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of waste management, environmental issues, or international development is highly desirable.
