The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is currently seeking an Associate Programme Management Officer to join the Gender and Safeguards Unit at its Nairobi office.

Role Overview:
Based at the Nairobi Duty Station within the Policy and Programme Division, the selected candidate will report to the head of the Gender and Safeguards Unit. The role involves contributing to UNEP's gender and safeguard policies, collaborating with project managers, conducting research, and supporting various initiatives.

Responsibilities Include:

- Identifying and sharing pertinent resources relating to UNEP's gender and safeguard policies.
- Collaborating with project managers to integrate gender and safeguard requirements.
- Conducting basic research and data analysis on programs and operations.
- Disseminating knowledge about UNEP's gender policy and the Environmental and Social Safeguards Framework.
- Participating in surveys and assisting with data collection.
- Assisting in preparing written materials, such as reports and publications.
- Providing assistance for meetings and conferences.
- Engaging in outreach and training activities.
- Coordinating budget-related tasks.
- Analyzing data and creating insights using visualization techniques for data-driven decision-making.

Requirements:

- An advanced degree in business, management, economics, or social sciences; or a Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience.
- Prior experience in project/program management, environmental programs, or gender/safeguard matters is advantageous.
- Familiarity with data analytics or data science is beneficial.
- Proficiency in English is mandatory; knowledge of French is a bonus.

Language Proficiency:

- Fluency in English is required.
- Proficiency in French is desirable.
- Knowledge of another official UN language is advantageous.

- The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension.
- Candidates from the young professionals programme with less than two years of initial assignment service are ineligible to apply.
