Small World Stories is a strategic communications and content creation firm that was founded in 2011 and focusses on a variety of humanitarian causes. Using narrative as the foundation of our work, we collaborate with global government and non-governmental organisations to develop communications plans and solutions that further programming objectives.

Concerning the Climate Communications Resources Hub
A communications problem contributes to the climate issue. The way we talk about the environment and our relationship to it needs to alter if we want to spur action. The Climate Communications materials Hub, also known as the Hub, compiles materials and tools to assist everyone in more effectively communicating the urgency of the climate crisis. The resources in the Hub explore a few different facets of climate communications, talk about best and worst tactics, and offer helpful advice to activists, marketers, PR firms, communicators, and anybody else who wants to spread awareness of the urgency of the climate crisis.

Role and Tasks:

The primary goal of the internship is to assist in the daily management of the Climate Communications Resources Hub, while also helping to enhance its accessibility, promotion, and overall growth. The intern will report to the co-director of Small World Stories and collaborate closely with the organization's social media and digital teams. The exact tasks assigned to the intern will be customized to align with the candidate’s interests and skills. Tentative responsibilities include:

  • Source new resources in English, French, and/or Spanish if language proficiency allows, including setting up alerts for new relevant materials.
  • Prepare and distribute regular email alerts and newsletters to subscribers.
  • Create and execute an outreach and promotion plan aimed at relevant academic programs and organizations.
  • Evaluate and suggest improvements to enhance the visibility and accessibility of resources on the Hub.
  • Create a guide for prospective external blog contributors.
  • Maintain and expand the blog's editorial calendar.
  • Write an average of two blogs per month on topics of interest to the candidate.
  • Develop a climate communications lexicon.

You have a similar enthusiasm for science communication and/or climate change. You are a student at a recognized university pursuing a graduate or bachelor's degree in a related topic, such as environmental science, climate change, development communications, or climate change and media.
