FULLY FUNDED TO EGYPT AND TÜRKIYE: Apply for the COP31 Simulation Fellowship for students, young changemakers and climate activists
This application is for youth interested in participating in the COP31 Simulation Fellowship organised by The British University in Egypt in partnership with UNDP Egypt.
The British University in Egypt (BUE) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Egypt, in collaboration with global academic partners and other stakeholders, are launching the COP31 Simulation Fellowship Programme.
This certified program brings together university students from around the world to simulate COP31 sessions, engage with chief negotiators, country delegates, and international climate leaders, and draft youth-driven climate declarations for presentation at the event.
Programme Components:
-
A virtual two-week training programme hosted by international universities and expert organizations, focusing on essential topics such as climate education, youth-driven initiatives, international negotiation, public speaking, and conflict management.
-
Participants will develop in-depth policy briefs on climate-related subjects, receiving ongoing guidance from both Egyptian and global mentors with academic or professional expertise.
-
A COP31 Simulation Summit will be held at The British University in Egypt, bringing together approximately 150 students worldwide. Participants will take on roles such as country representatives, lead negotiators, and civil society voices. They will deliberate and vote on proposals grounded in their research. A select group will be hosted in Egypt for a six-day immersive experience.
-
The outcomes of this simulation—including youth-drafted and voted-upon resolutions—will be compiled into a formal declaration. This document will later be presented during the official COP31 proceedings.
-
Around 20 outstanding students will be chosen to attend COP31, where they will share their findings and proposed climate solutions in both the official (blue) and informal (green) venues of the global summit.
