UAE’s Ministry of Education is calling fot climate education projects to be presented at COP28

Are you a teacher, school principal, or inspector who has implemented climate change education activities? Submit your project and have the opportunity to present it at COP28!

What is TeachersCOP?

TeachersCOP is an international event organized by the Office for Climate Education (OCE) to showcase the work of teachers, the challenges they face, and their crucial role in the global climate response. The first edition was held during COP26 in Glasgow, with over 500 teachers from 35 different countries participating. The second edition took place during COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, bringing together 1500 teachers. Due to its success, the OCE is continuing the initiative and is now planning to bring teachers' voices and impactful work to COP28 in the United Arab Emirates, scheduled from November 30 to December 12, 2023.

Who can participate?

The TeachersCOP is open to all primary and secondary teachers, as well as their trainers, school principals, or inspectors.

How can I participate?

1) Submit a project:

For this year's TeachersCOP, the focus is on projects and initiatives related to climate change education that you have already implemented in your classroom or school. These projects should align with one of the four categories set by teachers during the first TeachersCOP:

- School Curriculum: Successful approaches to integrating climate change topics into the school curriculum, even if not explicitly mentioned.
- Professional Development of Teachers: Initiatives where teachers, inspectors, directors, or trainers collaborate to provide training, share resources, organize conferences, workshops, etc., on climate change education.
- Teaching Resources: Creative teaching sequences or activities on climate change conducted by teachers within their classrooms.
- The School's Role in Climate Change: Projects related to climate change education developed at the school level, with or without the involvement of external stakeholders.

To participate, simply share your project by completing the form provided by September 30th (11:59 p.m. French time).

2) Participate and vote live at the TeachersCOP event:

TeachersCOP is a hybrid event with both in-person and virtual attendance, held live from the host country of COP28 just before the start of international climate negotiations.

During the event, teachers from around the world will connect simultaneously to discuss climate change education, with simultaneous translation available in French, English, Spanish, and Arabic.

This year, the OCE team will pre-select five climate change education projects to be presented to decision-makers at COP28, and an additional 25 projects will be chosen from the UAE.

Be part of this inspiring initiative and share your impactful work on climate change education with the world at COP28!
