Regarding the Role
Our Crisis Bureau plays a crucial role in establishing policies pertaining to crisis prevention, response, and recovery. UNDP is the premier knowledge organisation for sustainable development within the UN system. In addition to supporting UNDP's worldwide crisis response, the Crisis Bureau arranges multi-stakeholder interaction and offers strategic advice.
In this position, you will manage social media channels, produce eye-catching imagery, and create interesting material to increase the visibility and online presence of UNDP's crisis-related activity. Providing important stakeholders, including governments, funders, the UN system, and the general public, with compelling narratives about our work in crisis situations will be your responsibility.
Principal Duties
Take the lead in your social media strategy: Create and carry out a social media plan aimed at important audiences such as governments, funders, UN agencies, and civil society to increase awareness of UNDP's activities in crisis situations.
- Content Development: For UNDP's digital platforms (website, social media, and more), conduct research, produce, and create high-impact digital material, including copy, graphics, videos, and infographics.
- Performance Analysis: Monitor and assess website traffic and social media campaign performance, offering insights and modifying tactics to optimise impact.
- Multimedia Production: Produce eye-catching presentations, movies, and infographics to convey UNDP's crisis interventions and outcomes.
- Campaign Support: Create and oversee content for regional and international campaigns, especially those centred on significant UN crises and events.
- Internal Communications: To ensure effective communication inside the company, help develop internal newsletters and policy messaging utilising tools like Mailchimp.

Additional Information
Experience: At least five years (if you have a master's degree) or seven years (if you have a bachelor's degree) of professional experience creating digital communications content, such as print, video, and social media content.
Proficiency in graphic design and video editing applications, such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, and Final Cut Pro, is a technical skill.
Social media: Proven capacity to interact with a variety of audiences on social media sites (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, etc.).
Language: English proficiency is necessary. Being able to speak other languages is advantageous.
Experience with the UN system and knowledge of international development, poverty, human rights, and human development are desirable.
