US GREEN CARD: Apply for the United States of America DV Lottery 2026 (Diversity Immigrant Visa Program)
The U.S. Department of State runs the Diversity Visa (DV) Program every year, allowing up to 55,000 people from countries with low immigration rates to the U.S. to apply for a visa.
Who Can Apply for the Diversity Visa Program?
Eligibility Requirement 1:
You must be from a country with low immigration numbers to the U.S. However, if you are not, you may still qualify in these situations:
- If your spouse is from an eligible country, you can use their country of birth for your application. Both of you must be listed on the entry, meet the requirements, receive diversity visas, and enter the U.S. at the same time.
- If you were born in a country that is not eligible but neither of your parents were born or lived there at the time, you may use one of your parent’s countries of birth if that country is eligible for the DV-2026 program.
Eligibility Requirement 2:
You must also meet one of the following education or work experience requirements:
- You need to have completed a high school education (12 years of formal education), OR
- You need to have worked for two years within the last five years in a job that requires at least two years of training or experience. The U.S. Department of Labor’s O*Net Online Database will be used to check if your work experience qualifies.
How to Register
The online registration for the DV-2026 program starts on **Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 12:00 PM EDT** and ends on **Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 12:00 PM EST**. Be sure to only submit one entry, as submitting multiple entries will lead to disqualification.
How the Selection Works
The Department of State will randomly pick applicants from each eligible region and country. To see if you were selected, you must use the **Entrant Status Check** feature with the confirmation number you received during registration. This can be accessed at dvprogram.state.gov from **May 3, 2025**, to **September 30, 2026**.
