Concerning The Niskanen Centre
The Niskanen Centre was voted "The Most Interesting Think Tank in American Politics" by TIME Magazine in 2023. Backed by the conviction that a functional government and a free market are inextricably linked, Niskanen advocates for policies that enhance wealth, opportunity, and human flourishing.
Because we are not bound by tight political alliances, we are able to create a new vision of American governance that incorporates concepts from many ideological camps. We have the credibility to collaborate with a wide range of players because of our ideological openness, meeting them where they are and assisting them in coming to consensus on policies that they may support for various reasons. Therefore, we want to speak up for the aspirations and hopes of Americans who feel left out by the divisive nature of our politics.
The fundamental tenet of the Niskanen Centre is immigration's indispensable role as a pillar of American economic, civic, and cultural power. An unparalleled era of American invention and dynamism has been ushered in by our capacity to draw in the sharpest brains and toughest workers from around the globe. The vital roles that immigrants play in our workforce, their annual tax contributions in the billions, and their employment of millions of Americans in their enterprises are all vital to the health of our economy.
By concentrating on four main areas—increasing refugee sponsorship and resettlement, reformed legal pathways for economic growth, strengthening domestic and national security through soft power initiatives, and reconstructing an efficient immigration system—the Niskanen Centre seeks to address the inaction of current immigration policy.
