The Rangel Graduate Fellowship is an initiative designed to draw exceptional young people and train them for positions in the U.S. Department of State's Foreign Service, where they will be able to assist in creating, interpreting, and carrying out the country's foreign policy. A very competitive worldwide approach is used by the Rangel Programme to choose exceptional individuals who become Rangel Fellows each year.

The Rangel Fellows receive two years of graduate study support, internships, mentoring, and professional development opportunities. This programme promotes women, those in need of financial assistance, and members of historically underrepresented minority groups to apply to the Foreign Service.

In compliance with State Department policy and applicable laws, fellows who successfully complete the programme and meet the conditions for entrance into the Foreign Service will be appointed as Foreign Service Officers.

The goals of Rangel Fellows are to serve their nation and encourage constructive change on a worldwide scale. After successfully completing the Rangel Programme, people are currently changing the world in places like China, Korea, Bangladesh, South Africa, Nigeria, Angola, Mexico, Panama, Colombia, and Ireland.

Program Benefits
The Rangel Programme intends to provide 45 fellowships in 2025, with each fellowship worth up to $42,000, which will cover two years' worth of tuition, accommodation and board, books, and other required fees for completing a two-year master's degree. This includes a $18,000 academic year stipend in addition to up to $24,000 in annual tuition and required fees. After completing two years of coursework in a graduate school designated by the Rangel Programme, the Rangel Fellow is expected to have earned a degree in international affairs or another field relevant to the work of the Foreign Service. Throughout their academic career, recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2.


Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must be pursuing admission to a two-year graduate programme at a U.S. university in a field relevant to the Foreign Service, starting in the autumn of 2025. They may be college grads or in their final year of undergraduate study, with a June 2025 graduation date.
At the time of application, candidates must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better on a 4.0 scale.
Candidates must hold a valid US citizenship.
