The Next Generation Resource Governance Leaders Program is an internship program that aims to integrate theoretical understanding with practical implementation. Through this program, participants will be able to expand their diverse intellectual capacities, practical skills, and research abilities—all of which are critical for creatively addressing problems in governance.

In order to provide a long-term route for good governance throughout the continent, the Program also aims to develop a pipeline of young pan-African leaders.

Our Goal
Our goal is to use a systematic capacity development method to teach and nurture young people in a supportive work environment. This is the core of our purpose. Training in digital communication and technology skills, professional and career growth, and transformational leadership development are all included in this. In addition to receiving technical training in resource governance, interns will receive thorough ethical leadership training, as well as the means and direction to establish and accomplish reasonable goals on both a personal and professional level.

Applications for the seventh cohort of the program, which will run from September to November 2024, are now being accepted by ACEP.

The duties of Future Generation Leaders
Through the following initiatives, chosen NextGen Leaders will be instrumental in preserving ACEP's standing as a thought leader in the African energy and extractive policy domains:

supplying information about Africa's energy and extractives industry to policy briefings and research studies.
assisting with media relations initiatives to advance ACEP's goals and deliverables.
helping to organise, carry out, and assess yearly initiatives.
assisting with grant and proposal writing, as well as organisational growth and resource mobilisation initiatives.
Participating in the administration, oversight, and assessment (M&E) of programs.
