The fund will offer financial assistance for outreach efforts and infrastructure development to support organizations in regions and communities that are currently underrepresented in the global open science infrastructure. This will enable them to benefit from DataCite infrastructure services.

Scope
The Global Access Fund will provide funding to projects in the following areas:

1. Outreach and Engagement:
- Increase awareness and promote the adoption of global and local solutions, as well as connect to community initiatives. This includes:
- Capacity building to train research administrators and librarians on open infrastructure basics (DOIs, metadata, APIs), implementation (e.g., integrating DataCite APIs into repositories), and demonstrating the value of local infrastructure services to the community.
- Organizing events such as webinars, workshops, and virtual campaigns to promote open infrastructure and discuss strategies to boost participation and adoption through local initiatives.
- Developing outreach materials (e.g., videos, podcasts, social media content, tutorials) that highlight success stories and benefits of DataCite infrastructure in local/regional contexts, with content available in various formats and languages.

2. Open Infrastructure Development and Integration:
- Support the adoption and integration of DataCite infrastructure and services by:
- Developing repositories, publishing systems, and other systems that integrate DataCite APIs and metadata.
- Integrating DataCite APIs to link local and national systems with the DataCite Registry.
- Creating new tools and systems (e.g., visualizations, statistics tools, metadata enrichment tools, CRIS systems) to maximize the value of DataCite infrastructure.
