Nominations are open for the Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development

Applications are now being accepted for the Prince Talal International Prize, an annual award presented by the Arab Gulf Programme for Development, aimed at fostering and promoting innovation and creativity in human development.

The concept of the Prince Talal International Prize is rooted in AGFUND's commitment to enhancing development performance and supporting key projects aimed at sustainability and investment in people. The prize is designed to contribute to global efforts in sustainable development by investing in human potential. It has become a leading platform for identifying and rewarding successful development projects, as well as promoting their innovative ideas to improve development practices. This initiative also serves as a strategic tool for sharing successful experiences, enhancing development cooperation, and strengthening project funding mechanisms, with a focus on addressing challenges faced by vulnerable groups, especially women and children in developing countries. These challenges include poverty, social exclusion, marginalization, education, and health.

Objectives
The Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development seeks to:
- Support outstanding efforts that promote human development concepts.
- Spread successful project models.
- Showcase best practices that improve the living standards of the poor and marginalized, with a focus on women and children.
- Encourage the exchange of experiences and the development of effective solutions to combat poverty, exclusion, and marginalization.

Focus Areas
AGFUND is dedicated to sustainable human development and poverty reduction, with a focus on empowering vulnerable groups (women, children, displaced people, etc.) to claim their civil rights and live dignified lives. Its main focus areas include:

- Early Childhood Development: Supporting projects aimed at women and children in developing communities.
- Women’s Empowerment: Recognizing that lack of female participation is a major development barrier, particularly in Arab communities.
- Civil Society Development: Viewing civil society as an essential partner in development, mobilizing economic and human resources, and addressing poverty.
- Education: As a catalyst for change, education is vital to sustainable development, and AGFUND prioritizes quality education to meet modern needs.
- Financial Inclusion: Through the AGFUND Microfinance Unit (AMU), this area focuses on building the capacity of microfinance institutions, particularly microfinance banks.
