About the Rising Leaders Fellowship
The Rising Leaders Fellowship is designed to advance the careers of individuals in entry- to mid-level roles in the outdoor, environmental, and environmental justice fields.
Justice Outside specifically seeks to involve Black, Indigenous, and People of Color and allies who are dedicated to fostering cultural change within their organizations, ensuring that communities of color are genuinely represented, respected, and connected to nature.
Through a project-based cohort, this fellowship strengthens professional skills and builds a supportive network of leaders focused on social justice and racial equity in outdoor spaces.
In 2025, the fellowship will feature two cohorts: one held in person in Los Angeles and one offered virtually, open to participants across the United States. Sixty fellows will join capacity-building sessions and work on a culture-change project within their organization or community from February to September 2025.
The application period runs from October 18 to November 29, 2024. Interviews for selected applicants will take place between December 2 and December 13, with final decisions announced on January 13, 2025.
