The Kinship Conservation Fellowship, which supports conservation practitioners worldwide, is now accepting applications.

This program is tailored to enhance your career by providing new skills, insights, and analytical tools to boost the projects you lead in your community.

This month-long, in-residence fellowship emphasizes market-driven solutions for conservation and builds leadership skills within the sector. Through hands-on discussions, systems-thinking activities, and peer-learning sessions, Fellows explore real-world stories and innovative strategies to tackle complex challenges, which they can apply to their work.

The 2025 program will take place from June 29 to July 29 at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, USA.

Led by a faculty of global experts, the program's curriculum is tailored to the specific opportunities of each year’s cohort, introducing Fellows to the six Kinship Conservation Pillars for market-driven solutions:

- Adaptive Leadership
- Scaling Through Iteration
- Designing for Commons Governance
- Establishing an Economic Model
- Securing Conservation Financing

Program Benefits
Fellows attending the program in Bellingham, WA, will receive a stipend of $8,000 USD, after standard U.S. tax withholding. Fellows are responsible for handling any local, state, and federal taxes on the stipend. For non-U.S. citizens, the stipend will be subject to a typical 30% U.S. tax withholding, resulting in an approximate net payment of $5,600, though this may vary depending on current U.S. tax regulations.
Eligibility Criteria
They seek conservation leaders with at least five years of hands-on conservation experience, who are engaged in implementing market-driven solutions for environmental challenges and are eager to join a growing global community of leaders.

Applicants must submit a project proposal outlining an environmental challenge related to their work and their plans to address it through market-based strategies.

To qualify for the program, applicants must:
- Hold at least a four-year U.S. college degree ((or its equivalent).).
- Have a minimum of five years of relevant work experience post-degree.
- Be fluent in both spoken and written English.
- Actively work as a conservation practitioner (not in an academic or research-focused role).
