By promoting collaborative learning and integrated approaches, SDSN tackles the interconnected social, environmental, and economic challenges of today.
About SDSN Youth
Launched in 2015, SDSN Youth is a global initiative that empowers young people to design and implement solutions for sustainable development. Their work focuses on engaging youth communities, building capacity, and promoting collaboration and advocacy to advance the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data.
Position Overview
The Social Media Project Officer will be key to driving SDSN Youth’s online presence and communications strategies. This role involves managing content, fostering audience engagement, and supporting overall organizational outreach. Candidates should be creative, possess strong communication skills, and have a passion for youth engagement and sustainable development.
Responsibilities
Content Creation & Management
•Design and execute engaging social media campaigns to expand the reach of SDSN Youth and grow their community of newsletter subscribers.
•Generate innovative ideas to enhance the visibility and impact of digital content, including articles and multimedia resources.
•Stay updated on trends in youth engagement and the SDGs, curating relevant content such as videos, infographics, and articles for social media platforms.
Audience Interaction
•Oversee and respond to messages, queries, and comments across social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter.
•Explore creative methods to connect with diverse global audiences across languages and cultures.
Reporting & Collaboration
•Provide performance reports on social media activities to refine strategies.
•Partner with team members to develop and implement communication plans.
General Support
•Assist with various tasks related to communications and outreach as required.
Qualifications
•Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.
•A strong background in writing, journalism, or editorial work.
•A keen understanding of social media platforms and their applications.
•Passion for sustainable development, youth engagement, and the SDGs.
•Prior experience in communications, education, or sustainability is an advantage.
•Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
•A collaborative mindset, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
•Proficiency in digital tools such as Canva, Buffer, and Google Suite, among others.
•Availability to commit at least 10 hours weekly to the position.
Position Details
•Commitment: 10 hours per week.
•Duration: An initial 12-month term, including a 3-month trial period, with potential for renewal based on performance.
•Location: Remote.
•Compensation: Voluntary, unpaid.
•Training: Completion of online induction courses is mandatory.
