**Clinical Research Costs**
Wellcome covers some of the costs associated with clinical research using NHS patients or facilities, as outlined in Annex A of the AcoRD guidelines. If your research involves NHS resources, you may need to submit a SoECAT form with your application. Teams based in the Republic of Ireland are expected to follow similar principles.

**Fieldwork Expenses**
Wellcome covers essential fieldwork costs, which must be justified. These can include:

- Survey and data collection (e.g., communication, travel, materials, translation)
- Vehicle costs dedicated to the project
- Participant expenses (e.g., recruitment, fees, travel)
- Statistical analysis

Additional fieldwork costs may be covered if properly justified.

**Travel and Subsistence**
If you are from a higher education institution, research institute, healthcare organization, non-profit, or small company, you can apply for:

- **Conference Attendance**: Up to £2,000 per year for lead applicants and coapplicants, and £1,000 per year for grant staff. Wellcome will also cover caring responsibilities for staff attending conferences.
- **Collaborative Travel**: Travel and subsistence for collaborative visits, with justification required.
- **Other Travel**: Essential travel (e.g., to research facilities or for fieldwork) can be funded, including subsistence.
- **Carbon Offsetting**: Costs for low-carbon travel, alternative activities (e.g., video conferencing), and carbon offsetting can be covered.

**Subsistence Costs**
For trips up to one month, subsistence for accommodation, meals, and incidentals can be requested, following your administering organization's policy or HMRC rates. For longer stays, rental costs (e.g., aparthotels) will be covered. If you're from a low- or middle-income country working in a high-income country for 1-12 months, additional daily allowances up to £10 are available.

For stays longer than 12 months, housing costs will be covered, with the allowance based on family and business needs and location market rates.

**Overseas Research**
Wellcome will help with additional costs for research conducted overseas, as detailed in the "Overseas Allowances" section.

**Who Can Apply**

**The Team**
- Must be transdisciplinary, combining expertise from various scientific disciplines, public and private sectors, and citizens. Non-academic stakeholders should ideally be co-applicants or collaborators, with a clear plan to develop such partnerships within the first year.
- The team should consist of at least two applicants (one lead and one coapplicant) and no more than eight applicants (excluding collaborators).
- Must include applicants from each country where the research will be conducted, with a focus on being LMIC-led.
- Should have a proven track record in climate change mitigation and health research, and experience in influencing policy or practice.
- Must have experience collaborating with governments, NGOs, or advocacy organizations.
- Should promote a diverse, inclusive, and supportive research environment.

**Lead Applicant**
- Must be employed by an eligible LMIC organization that can sign the grant conditions (including sole traders or self-employed businesses).
- Must be a leader in their field, with experience managing large-scale, collaborative research projects.
- Must have relevant people and research management experience, based on their career stage.
- Should have a permanent, open-ended, or long-term rolling contract at the host organization for the grant duration.
- Must be able to dedicate at least 20% of their research time to the project.
