The Urban Movement Innovation Fund (UMI Fund) is looking for an experienced and passionate Youth Programme Coordinator to help amplify the voices of young climate leaders and create impactful change. Role Overview
As the Youth Programme Coordinator, you will work directly with young leaders and grassroots organizations to co-create meaningful climate-focused projects. The role emphasizes fostering partnerships, improving access to funding, and empowering youth to take on leadership roles in the climate movement. This position also offers opportunities for travel to attend global conferences and convenings focused on youth climate action.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will support the design and coordination of youth-led climate programs. You will assist in managing grants, preparing project proposals, and supporting UMI Fund’s youth micro-granting initiatives. Additionally, you will monitor the progress of funded projects through regular check-ins with partners to ensure all goals are met.
Engaging with youth networks and organizations is also essential. You will build relationships with young climate leaders, organize outreach efforts, and facilitate workshops to strengthen leadership skills. You will collaborate with the communications team to showcase youth initiatives and ensure that the impact of their work is effectively shared with the world. This role also involves expanding the reach of youth initiatives by networking with various partners and coalitions.
What UMI Fund is Looking For
The ideal candidate will have 7 to 9 years of experience with community-driven initiatives, especially in the Global South. Previous work with NGOs, youth groups, or social movements focused on climate or environmental justice is highly valued. Experience organizing youth-led events and managing projects from start to finish is essential. Strong communication skills, including public speaking experience, are also important.
The candidate should understand the unique climate challenges young people face, particularly in the Global South, and be comfortable working across cultural and geographic boundaries. Proactivity, adaptability, and strong organizational skills are key to success in this role. Familiarity with tools like Google Workspace and Slack is a plus.
Desirable Skills and Experience
UMI Fund would prefer candidates with experience in grant writing and management, fundraising, and creating impactful stories to mobilize resources. Experience designing youth engagement programs and organizing community-based climate initiatives is also highly desirable. Proficiency in Spanish or additional languages is an added advantage.
This position is remote, with a preference for candidates in time zones within seven hours of Central European Time (CET). The role offers a competitive salary based on the country of hire.
