FULLY FUNDED TO UNITED STATES: Apply for the World Bank Government Analytics Fellowship Program 2026 for government employees

Applications are now being accepted for the World Bank’s Government Analytics Fellowship, an innovative program created to unlock the value of government data and transform it into more effective public administration. The initiative is aimed at reducing the gap between the wealth of information available to governments and the practical use of that data to drive efficiency and improve decision-making in the public sector.

Drawing on the knowledge presented in the Government Analytics Handbook and guided by specialists from the World Bank and academic partners, the fellowship equips participants with state-of-the-art evidence and applied expertise to strengthen institutional performance. This program is a joint effort led by the World Bank’s Development Economics Vice-Presidency (DEC), Development Impact Group (DECDI), the Global Department for Institutions, the Institute for Economic Development, and University College London (UCL).

The fellowship runs over a six-month period and combines both in-person learning and direct professional guidance. A key feature is the two-week immersive training held in Washington, D.C., where fellows will attend the Public Institutions Conference alongside an intensive Government Analytics course. These sessions provide a unique opportunity to work closely with senior experts from the World Bank and UCL while developing a concrete government analytics project.

Applicants are expected to hold positions within central government bodies or related agencies, ideally at the level of mid-career managers or senior analysts who have the authority to implement projects. They should also have prior academic exposure to statistics or similar quantitative disciplines and be fluent in English. Only candidates officially nominated by their organizations—up to two from each institution—will be considered. Fellows must also be available to travel to Washington, D.C., for the training period.

Successful participants will gain the skills to turn raw government data into practical insights that guide stronger policies and smarter administration. The fellowship also empowers them to introduce meaningful reforms within their institutions, supported by leading-edge research and mentorship. Beyond the technical knowledge, fellows become part of an international network of peers, scholars, and practitioners dedicated to advancing the role of analytics in governance.

For those applying from countries eligible for Official Development Assistance (ODA), the World Bank will cover travel costs, lodging, and daily expenses during the Washington, D.C., training. Applications must be submitted in English and should include a detailed curriculum vitae of no more than three pages, a 150-word description of how the program’s knowledge will be applied to improve their institution, and a formal nomination letter from their employer confirming their endorsement. Interested candidates may reach out to governmentanalytics@worldbank.org for additional information.
