FULLY FUNDED TO USA & SOUTH KOREA : Apply For The Asia Foundation Development Fellows

Application are open for the Asia Foundation 2026 Development Fellows Program, a prestigious and immersive leadership initiative designed to strengthen the next generation of changemakers across Asia and the Pacific.

Targeting exceptional individuals under the age of 40, the program aims to deepen participants’ leadership capacity, expand their understanding of regional development challenges, and foster meaningful professional and cross-cultural networks.

Program Overview

The Asia Foundation Development Fellows Program offers a dynamic year-long experience combining intensive training, international exposure, and professional mentorship. Drawing on over seven decades of the Foundation’s work in advancing good governance, gender equality, environmental resilience, education, and inclusive development, the fellowship nurtures leaders equipped to drive sustainable change in their countries.

Key Components

1. Spring 2026: Leadership Training & Study Tour — South Korea (April 19–25, 2026)
This segment features interactive leadership development modules led by executive coaches and regional experts. Fellows will participate in site visits, policy exchanges, and workshops designed to build strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. The sessions emphasize innovation, resilience, and adaptive leadership in addressing complex regional challenges.

2. Fall 2026: Leadership Dialogue & Exchange — United States (September 28–October 7, 2026)
Continuing from the spring program, the U.S. exchange allows Fellows to engage with development practitioners, policy leaders, and organizations driving global impact. It also strengthens the cohort’s network, providing new perspectives and cross-border collaboration opportunities.

Mentorship and Executive Coaching

Fellows benefit from one-on-one executive coaching sessions and mentorship matching, customized to their backgrounds and leadership interests. The Asia Foundation’s regional network ensures participants receive guidance from experienced professionals who can support their development journey during and beyond the fellowship year.

Successful applicants will be announced in early 2026, marking the start of their fellowship journey.

Program Benefits
Professional Development Award

- Each Fellow will receive a Professional Development Award of up to USD 2,500, enabling them to design a personalized plan for skill enhancement and career growth. This may include enrolling in specialized short courses, attending international forums, pursuing language study, or undertaking other learning activities aligned with their professional goals.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be citizens or residents of eligible Asia-Pacific countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pacific Islands, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.

- Be under 40 years old as of January 1, 2026.

- Demonstrate significant professional experience and accomplishments in one or more of The Asia Foundation’s areas of focus.

- Show strong leadership potential and a commitment to community or national development.

- Be fluent in English (no formal test required).

- Be available to participate fully in all program components and eligible for U.S. visa processing.
