FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the Refugee Youth Changemakers Global Digital Pathways Program
Applications are now open for the Refugee Youth Changemakers (RYCM) Global Digital Pathways Program, an international initiative designed to empower 500 refugees and vulnerable young people with digital, professional, and leadership abilities through fully sponsored access to Coursera. This opportunity offers high-quality online learning, globally respected certification, and pathways to new livelihood possibilities, helping young learners succeed in today’s fast-changing digital landscape.
The Global Digital Pathways Program grants participants full access to six carefully developed study routes that strengthen digital competence, entrepreneurial thinking, career readiness, and community-focused leadership. Once accepted, learners select one pathway to begin with and study online for up to four months. During this period, they earn Coursera-verified certificates, receive an exclusive RYCM x Coursera Certificate of Learning, and gain entry to additional opportunities for career growth. Those who successfully finish their first pathway can later register for another one, allowing them to deepen their skills over time.
This initiative was created to reduce barriers to digital education and help refugee youth gain abilities that genuinely boost their employability both locally and internationally. The program’s pathways include options in technology and software development, creative and professional skills, digital basics for vulnerable youth, business innovation and entrepreneurship, global digital career foundations, and leadership and communication for community impact.
The program is open to young people living in Africa or those who identify as African in the diaspora, with priority given to refugees or vulnerable individuals connected to RYCM or its partner networks. Applicants must be ready to dedicate at least four months to their studies, have access to basic digital tools and internet connectivity, and be motivated to learn, grow professionally, or contribute to their communities. Those with minimal digital experience can begin with the Digital Foundations pathway. Learners may only take one pathway at a time, and each must be completed within four months before starting another.
Participants benefit from completely funded access to Coursera’s premium learning materials, including professional certificates, interactive lessons, quizzes, assignments, and downloadable resources. Every completed course provides a verified digital certificate accepted by respected institutions worldwide, helping learners enhance their CVs, LinkedIn profiles, and job applications. Graduates also receive a special joint certificate from RYCM and Coursera, demonstrating commitment and achievement throughout their chosen pathway.
Throughout the four-month journey, learners follow a structured learning plan supported by check-ins, guidance, and recommended pacing to help them stay consistent even when balancing personal or community responsibilities. After completing a pathway, motivated individuals can continue strengthening their expertise by joining additional tracks in different fields.
Participants also receive career development support, including help with CV preparation, LinkedIn optimization, and building digital portfolios. They gain insight into job platforms, internship opportunities, online work, and entrepreneurship. Beyond the coursework, learners become part of a dynamic community of fellow youth, mentors, alumni, and partners dedicated to collective growth, encouragement, and knowledge sharing.
