The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is seeking a Junior Consultant to support the implementation of a high-impact climate and energy initiative under the Nigeria Gas Flare Commercialization Programme (NGFCP). The position is based in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, and will run for approximately 9.5 months.
This consultancy role will contribute to a multi-country climate finance and methane reduction project focused on scaling investment, strengthening Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) systems, and improving institutional capacity for emissions monitoring and carbon market participation.
About the Project
Nigeria is one of the world’s largest gas-flaring countries, with significant environmental, economic, and public health implications. Through the NGFCP Acceleration project, GGGI is working with national institutions and development partners to enhance carbon finance readiness, develop robust methane MRV and Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) frameworks, and support access to carbon markets and climate finance.
The Junior Consultant will work closely with GGGI’s project team, national counterparts, and technical experts to support implementation, research, coordination, and reporting activities.
Key Responsibilities
The consultant will provide technical, analytical, and coordination support across several workstreams, including:

Supporting day-to-day project implementation, coordination, and documentation

Assisting with data collection and analysis for carbon feasibility, MRV/LDAR frameworks, and institutional assessments

Contributing to technical reports, toolkits, presentations, and progress updates

Supporting stakeholder engagement, workshops, and capacity-building activities
-
Assisting with monitoring, reporting, and communication of project results

Additional Information
- At least two years of relevant professional experience in climate, energy, carbon markets, or development projects
- Strong interest in carbon finance, methane reduction, MRV systems, or energy transition topics
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills
- Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an advantage
- Experience supporting workshops, stakeholder consultations, or donor-funded projects is desirable
