FULLY FUNDED TO PARIS : Apply for the ISC Civic Science Fellow in Science Communication 2026
Applications are now open for the ISC Civic Science Fellow in Science Communication, a fully funded 18-month fellowship hosted by the International Science Council (ISC). The programme is designed for outstanding early- to mid-career researchers interested in strengthening the role of science in international policymaking through effective science communication.
Supported by the Rita Allen Foundation’s Civic Science Fellows Program, the fellowship offers participants the opportunity to work at the intersection of science, policy, and communication while collaborating with global experts and international organizations. The fellowship will begin in September 2026 and is primarily conducted remotely, with opportunities for international travel.
Fellowship Overview
The ISC Civic Science Fellowship focuses on improving how scientific evidence is communicated within multilateral institutions and international policy processes. The selected fellow will contribute to research, stakeholder engagement, and the development of practical tools that help scientific evidence reach policymakers more effectively.
Throughout the programme, the fellow will work closely with the ISC Secretariat, its international membership, and partner organizations to examine current science communication practices, identify barriers to evidence uptake, and develop strategies that strengthen science-informed decision-making.
Fellowship Responsibilities
The selected fellow will contribute to a range of activities, including:
- Researching science communication practices across international organizations.
- Studying how scientific evidence is interpreted and used in global policymaking.
- Identifying factors that influence evidence uptake in decision-making processes.
- Examining the impact of misinformation and disinformation on public understanding of science.
- Developing practical guidance, communication tools, and policy resources.
- Supporting pilot projects that test innovative science communication approaches.
