STIPEND AVAILABLE: Apply for the Pulitzer Center Lavwa Lenpak African Content Creator Program 2026

Applications are now open for the Pulitzer Center Lavwa Lenpak African Content Creator Program 2026, inviting African content creators to join the second cohort of a program designed to help creators use journalism-based approaches to inform, engage and create meaningful impact within their communities.

The 2026 edition will focus on governance and human rights in the forestry sector, with particular attention to the Congo Basin. The program aims to strengthen content creators as trusted voices by equipping them with skills to understand public-interest issues, think critically, and transform complex investigative journalism into reliable, accessible and engaging content for social media audiences.

The program is seeking 10 African content creators who have an established online community and create content on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. Applicants should have an audience interested in Africa or the Congo Basin and demonstrate an interest in issues including social justice, education, governance, transparency, accountability, natural resources, forest protection and community rights.

The opportunity is open to content creators, issue-based influencers, journalist-creators and community voices who are willing to learn journalism-based content creation, engage with public-interest reporting and make complex topics understandable and engaging for their audiences.

Selected participants will gain access to Pulitzer Center-supported reporting and journalistic resources, opportunities to collaborate with journalists, and personalized feedback on their content. They will also participate in masterclasses covering disinformation and the role of trusted voices, creative storytelling and scriptwriting. Each participant will receive a $500 participation stipend, paid at the end of the program upon approval of all required deliverables.

Participants will also have the opportunity to contribute to broader conversations around accountability, forest governance and human rights in Africa.

Eligibility: African content creators based in or creating content about Africa or the Congo Basin, with an established and engaged audience on TikTok, Instagram and/or Facebook.
