Apply for the WWF-Amano Fellowship 2027 for Young Ugandan Environmental Leaders
Applications are open for the WWF-Amano Fellowship 2027, offering young Ugandans who are already making a difference in conservation, climate action, environmental education or community development an opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills.
The fellowship, organised by WWF International in collaboration with the Amano So Global Mentorship Network, is a nine-month virtual leadership development programme designed to support emerging leaders in building practical skills, professional networks and the confidence needed to create lasting impact in their communities.
About the WWF-Amano Fellowship
The WWF-Amano Fellowship brings together young and emerging conservation leaders for a comprehensive virtual learning and mentorship experience. The programme combines conservation knowledge with leadership development, strategic thinking, emotional resilience and peer learning.
Participants will be able to remain engaged in their work, studies or community initiatives while taking part in the fellowship.
The programme is particularly focused on developing a new generation of leaders capable of advancing biodiversity conservation and sustainable development at the community level.
Fellowship Duration and Format
The WWF-Amano Fellowship will run for nine months and will be delivered virtually. This allows fellows to participate while continuing with their studies, employment, businesses or ongoing community initiatives.
The programme will include mentorship meetings, workshops, discussions and other online learning activities.
How to Apply
Interested applicants are required to prepare a one-page brief about themselves, highlighting their background, leadership experience and involvement in conservation, environmental initiatives or community engagement.
The application should also clearly include:

- Must be a young Ugandan aged 21–30 years
-Early-career or mid-career emerging leaders are encouraged to apply
- Demonstrated involvement or impact in conservation work, climate advocacy, environmental education, sustainable entrepreneurship or related areas
- Individuals from local and/or Indigenous communities with demonstrated involvement in conservation are particularly encouraged
- Young women and applicants from underserved or marginalised communities are highly encouraged to apply
- Must have strong spoken and written English skills
- Must be able to dedicate approximately 5–8 hours per month to fellowship activities, including mentor group meetings, expert-led workshops, guest speaker sessions and peer discussions
- Must have reliable internet connectivity to participate in virtual training and meetings
- Applicants are expected to demonstrate evidence of conservation activities, community engagement, environmental advocacy or other initiatives through which they have contributed to positive change.
