Apply for the Generation Hope Goals 2027: Actions for the SDGs
Applications are open for Generation Hope Goals 2027: Actions for the SDGs, a regional youth climate action initiative bringing together young people who are turning ideas into practical solutions for a more just, inclusive and sustainable future.
The initiative is jointly organized by Save the Children, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, ChildFund, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Youth Empowerment in Climate Action Platform (YECAP), and the UNFCCC Regional Collaboration Centre for Asia-Pacific.
The programme is designed for youth groups already taking action on climate and sustainability challenges and provides an opportunity to showcase their work, receive mentorship, strengthen their solutions and connect with a wider regional audience.
About Generation Hope Goals 2027
Generation Hope Goals 2027 will form part of the 14th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) and will culminate in February 2027 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The initiative builds on two previous cycles held during 2024–2025 and 2025–2026. Its third cycle focuses on identifying youth-led solutions that are already being implemented and that contribute to progress on selected Sustainable Development Goals.
The programme seeks practical and innovative approaches that demonstrate how young people are responding to climate and sustainability challenges in their communities.
Eligible Sustainable Development Goals
The climate action solution should contribute to at least one of the following SDGs:
SDG 4 – Quality Education
Solutions that promote inclusive, accessible and quality education and learning opportunities.
SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities
Initiatives addressing inequality, exclusion and barriers affecting vulnerable or underserved communities.
SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
Projects promoting sustainable consumption, circular economy approaches, resource efficiency, waste reduction or sustainable production.
SDG 15 – Life on Land
Solutions supporting ecosystems, biodiversity, forests, land restoration and the protection of terrestrial environments.
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
Initiatives demonstrating how collaboration and partnerships can accelerate sustainable development and climate action.
Selection Process
The programme will follow a multi-stage selection process.
Stage 1: Application Submission
Interested youth groups must submit their applications by 12 October 2026 at 11:59 PM Bangkok time (UTC+7).
Stage 2: Semi-Final Selection
A total of 15 projects will be shortlisted from the applications.
The selected groups will present their solutions online to a panel of judges and will also be required to create a one-minute video explaining their projects.
Stage 3: Finals Preparation
The top five finalist teams will be selected from the semi-finalists and will receive further support, including mentorship, pitch refinement and networking opportunities.
The finalists are expected to be announced in November 2026.
Final Event
The five finalist teams will present their solutions at the 14th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development in Bangkok, Thailand, in February 2027.
Travel support for the final event is subject to available resources.
What Makes the Opportunity Relevant
Generation Hope Goals is particularly suited to youth groups that are already implementing practical climate or sustainability solutions rather than groups with only an early-stage idea.
Projects may address areas such as sustainable consumption, environmental protection, climate resilience, education, biodiversity, inclusion, community development and partnerships, provided they demonstrate alignment with at least one of the five SDGs covered by the programme.
The initiative also gives young innovators an opportunity to move beyond local implementation and share their approaches within a wider regional platform.

Additional Information
Generation Hope Goals provides participating youth groups with a platform to present their work and strengthen their solutions.
Shortlisted teams will have the opportunity to:
- Present their climate action solution to a panel of judges
- Produce a one-minute video explaining their project
- Receive feedback on their solution and presentation
- Participate in mentorship and pitch refinement workshops
- Connect with other young climate and sustainability innovators
- Build regional networks and partnerships
- Showcase their work to a diverse Asia-Pacific audience
- Strengthen their ability to communicate and scale their solutions
Applications must be submitted by a group, rather than by an individual applicant.
- Each participating group should:
- Be based in or represent the Asia-Pacific region
- Consist of 3 to 5 members aged 14–24
- Be part of an existing group, network or organization
- Be actively implementing a climate action solution
- Have a minimum viable product or a service/programme that has been operating for at least six months
- Address at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals under review at the 2027 APFSD
- Be able to communicate and participate in the programme in English
- Groups that include representation of children, girls and/or women are particularly encouraged to apply.
