Up to $5,000 in Project Funding for Each fellow : Apply for the Billion Acts of Peace Changemaker Fellowship 2026 for Young Leaders

Applications are now open for the Billion Acts of Peace Changemaker Fellowship, a one-year leadership programme powered by the PeaceJam Foundation for young people who are already taking action in their communities and want to strengthen the work they have started.

The fellowship is designed for emerging changemakers working in areas such as peace, justice, equity and social change. Participants will receive mentorship, project funding, networking opportunities and practical leadership development while connecting with a global community of people working to create positive change.

About the Fellowship

The Billion Acts of Peace Changemaker Fellowship supports young leaders who are at a stage where their projects have moved beyond the idea phase but have not yet reached significant scale.

Over the course of one year, fellows will receive guidance aimed at helping them develop their leadership skills, strengthen their projects and expand their ability to create lasting impact.

The programme brings together changemakers from different countries, sectors and backgrounds who are working across the 10 key issue areas of Billion Acts of Peace.

Fellowship Benefits

Selected fellows will receive several forms of support, including:

Yearlong Mentorship

Fellows will participate in monthly mentorship sessions focused on the leadership competencies they most want to develop. The programme draws on lessons and approaches associated with PeaceJam's Nobel Laureates and other experienced changemakers.

Up to $5,000 in Project Funding

Each fellow can receive up to US$5,000 in project funding to help develop or expand their peacebuilding and social change initiative.

The funding is intended to support the work fellows are already building in their communities.

Global Changemaker Community

Fellows will become part of a global network that includes PeaceJam participants, other Billion Acts of Peace fellows, Nobel Laureates, network members, nonprofit professionals and business leaders.

This community provides opportunities to exchange ideas, collaborate and build long-term professional relationships.

Events and Global Opportunities

Fellows will have opportunities to participate in PeaceJam conferences and virtual events and may be connected with other international opportunities that align with their projects and goals.

PeaceJam Competencies

The fellowship places particular emphasis on six core competencies that participants are expected to develop throughout the programme:

  • Positive Power & Purpose – Understanding personal purpose and using individual strengths to create positive change.
  • Creating Inclusive Communities – Developing collaborative and supportive communities where people can participate and contribute.
  • Compassionate Leadership – Leading with empathy, understanding and a commitment to justice.
  • Peacebuilding – Developing practical approaches to conflict resolution, justice and peaceful communities.
  • Global Citizenship & Interconnectedness – Recognizing the connections between people, communities and the wider world.
  • Change Agent – Taking action, advocating for positive transformation and inspiring others to contribute to change.

Who Is the Fellowship Best Suited For?

The programme is particularly relevant to young leaders who have already started building something meaningful and now need additional guidance, resources and connections to take the next step.

It is not simply aimed at people with an idea. Applicants are expected to demonstrate active involvement in a project, initiative or organization and show a commitment to developing its impact.
