FUNDED: Apply for the 50 Percent Storytelling Fellowship for young storytellers
The 50 Percent Storytelling Fellowship is inviting applications from young people who want to develop their storytelling, communication and advocacy skills while learning how to use their voices to contribute to positive social and environmental change. The fellowship is a free, 10-week online programme that combines guided sessions, mentorship, practical storytelling activities and peer learning.
Throughout the programme, participants will explore how stories can shape conversations, challenge existing narratives and inspire action. The fellowship will cover themes including systems thinking, sustainability, social justice, community mobilisation and social impact, while giving fellows practical experience in producing engaging digital content.
The programme is structured around four stages. Fellows will first develop stronger connections within the cohort through dialogue, active listening and an introduction to systems awareness. They will then examine identity and personal narratives, exploring how stories can influence perceptions of belonging and exclusion. The third stage focuses on practical storytelling, with participants learning how to create short-form videos, write blog posts and develop social media content using accessible tools such as mobile phones. Training in filming, editing and social media strategy will also be provided.
In the final stage, fellows will strengthen their confidence and facilitation skills by leading a short peer-learning session before applying what they have learned to their own storytelling projects. Participants will have the opportunity to develop and publish two final stories in a format of their choice, including a reel, blog post or social media carousel.
The fellowship is open to young people who are passionate about creating positive change and interested in using storytelling as a tool for advocacy and impact. This includes climate activists, social justice advocates and young people involved in social impact networks. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply, particularly those who are eager to learn, share their experiences and connect with other changemakers.
By completing the fellowship, participants will gain practical communication and multimedia storytelling skills, greater confidence in expressing their ideas and experience creating content for public audiences. Fellows will also become part of a community of like-minded young changemakers, providing opportunities to build meaningful connections, exchange knowledge and continue amplifying their voices beyond the programme.
