FULLY FUNDED TO COP31: Apply for the MediaNet International funded participation at COP31 in Türkiye for Central Asian Journalists

Applications are now open for the funded participation programme for Central Asian journalists at the 2026 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31), organised by MediaNet International Centre for Journalism in partnership with n-ost. The conference will take place in Antalya, Türkiye, from 9 to 20 November 2026.

The programme will select four journalists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to attend COP31 for seven days. Selected participants will have the opportunity to report on major climate discussions, international climate negotiations and environmental issues affecting Central Asia, bringing regional perspectives to global conversations on climate change.

The programme will cover round-trip airfare, accommodation and a daily allowance (per diem) for the selected journalists during their participation.

Successful applicants will be expected to produce three journalistic materials in formats of their choice, including articles, videos, audio reports or other media formats. They will also be required to share and promote their work on social media during COP31 and participate in follow-up activities, including webinars and social media interviews.

To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan or Uzbekistan. Applications from citizens of other countries will not be considered. Interested journalists should demonstrate their professional experience, motivation and ideas for reporting on climate issues from COP31.

Applicants must complete the application form carefully and provide accurate information. The motivation statement must be written independently, without AI-generated content, and should reflect the applicant’s personal motivation, professional background and proposed reporting ideas.

The application deadline is 13 October 2026 at 23:59 Central European Time (CET). The organisers plan to announce the selected journalists on 14 October 2026, with successful applicants expected to apply for their media badges on 15 October 2026.
