FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the OneBeat Residency Program 2024 for Musicians Worldwide
Applications are now open for the 2024 OneBeat Residency Program. OneBeat is inviting applications from 50 talented artists worldwide, hailing from up to 54 eligible countries and territories, for two month-long music exchanges in the U.S., scheduled for spring and fall 2024.
OneBeat, a project by the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in partnership with New York-based music organization Bang on a Can's Found Sound Nation, offers innovative programs that bring together artists from diverse backgrounds to create collaborative original music. This initiative serves as a dynamic approach to cultural diplomacy.
With over 10 years of successful OneBeat programs, they are thrilled to introduce two annual OneBeat residencies. Each year, 50 selected OneBeat fellows (ages 19-35) from up to 54 countries and territories will participate. During a month-long U.S. residency, accepted fellows will engage in collaborative music creation, original performances, and the development of arts-based social engagement strategies.
The OneBeat journey begins with an opening residency, where fellows collaborate on new music, record creative ideas, and nurture their projects. Subsequently, they embark on tours, showcasing their music to diverse American audiences, collaborating with local musicians, and conducting workshops for young individuals. Throughout the residency, each musician charts their path forward, conceiving projects in their home countries that contribute to a network of music-centered social enterprises.
The two OneBeat residencies are scheduled independently in April-May 2024 and September-October 2024. Applications are currently being accepted until September 15, 2023.
