2026 Call for Expression of Interest: LCOY and COY Liaison – YOUNGO
Applications are open for individuals interested in serving as Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) and Conference of Youth (COY) Liaisons for the 2026 cycle.
This renewed call aims to strengthen regional balance, promote gender inclusivity, and create broader leadership pathways within the constituency. Adjustments to eligibility criteria have been introduced to ensure greater access for committed and active members.
About the Role
Liaisons act as official bridges between YOUNGO’s Global Coordination Team (GCT) and the organizers of Local and Conference of Youth events held in the lead-up to the annual climate negotiations. These events feed into the Global Conference of Youth (GCOY) and ultimately contribute to youth positions presented at the annual Conference of the Parties (COP).
Selected candidates will:
-
Coordinate closely with LCOY and COY organizing teams
-
Ensure alignment with YOUNGO’s guidelines and principles
-
Facilitate communication between organizers and the Global Coordination Team
-
Support outcome documents that inform the Global Youth Statement
-
Provide structured progress updates and reports throughout the year
The mandate requires neutrality, transparency, and adherence to YOUNGO’s conflict-of-interest standards.
Commitment and Responsibilities
The liaison role is facilitative rather than operational. Liaisons do not join organizing teams but instead:
-
Represent the Global Coordination Team
-
Monitor adherence to constituency principles
-
Support knowledge exchange across conferences
-
Ensure documentation and reporting are completed on time
-
Contribute to inclusive and respectful coordination spaces
The role requires strong communication skills, leadership capacity, intercultural competence, and alignment with YOUNGO’s values of equity, inclusion, and transparency.
Term and Reporting
The position spans approximately one year, covering the pre-conference planning period, conference implementation, and post-event reporting phase. Final reports are expected before and after the Global Conference of Youth, depending on the liaison category.
Interested and eligible members are invited to submit their expression of interest through the official application form before the deadline.
This opportunity is particularly welcoming to candidates from underrepresented regions and genders, reinforcing the constituency’s commitment to diversity and inclusive climate leadership.
For youth climate advocates seeking deeper engagement in international climate governance and coordination processes, this liaison role offers meaningful leadership experience within the global UNFCCC youth framework
Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 24 February 2026 at 12:00 UTC.
