African Leadership Academy Class of 2027 – Call for Applications
African Leadership Academy (ALA) is inviting applications from ambitious young Africans who want to develop their leadership abilities, broaden their educational opportunities and become part of a Pan-African community of future changemakers. Applications are now open for the ALA Class of 2027, offering young people from across the continent an opportunity to pursue a two-year ALA Diploma programme in South Africa.
The programme is designed for young people who demonstrate leadership potential, intellectual curiosity and a strong commitment to creating positive change in their communities and across Africa. Rather than focusing only on academic achievement, ALA seeks students who are willing to challenge themselves, develop their ideas and take responsibility for shaping the future of the continent.
During the two-year programme, students will receive a world-class leadership education while developing skills in areas such as entrepreneurship, critical thinking, communication, problem-solving and personal development. The learning experience is designed to prepare students not only for further education but also for meaningful leadership and impact beyond the classroom.
Students selected for the programme will also become part of a diverse Pan-African community, allowing them to interact with talented young people from different African countries, cultures and backgrounds. This network can provide valuable opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, learning and long-term professional connections.
Financial aid and scholarships are also available to eligible students, helping make the ALA experience accessible to talented young Africans who may not otherwise be able to afford the cost of attending the academy. Applicants are encouraged to explore the financial aid opportunities available as part of the application process.
To be eligible for the Class of 2027, applicants must be young African students born on or after September 1, 2007. ALA is particularly interested in students who demonstrate strong leadership potential, are passionate about learning and have a genuine desire to contribute to positive change in their communities and beyond.
The programme will be delivered at African Leadership Academy in South Africa and will run for two years, leading to the ALA Diploma. Beyond graduation, students gain access to the wider ALA network, creating opportunities to remain connected with fellow young leaders and access lifelong learning, leadership and professional opportunities.
This opportunity is particularly suited to young Africans who see education as more than simply obtaining a qualification and who want to develop the knowledge, confidence and networks needed to become leaders in Africa and around the world.
Applications for the African Leadership Academy Class of 2027 close on October 15, 2026. Eligible young Africans are encouraged to begin preparing their applications early and take advantage of this opportunity to join a community committed to developing Africa’s next generation of leaders.
