Apply for the African Union Youth Volunteer Corps (AU-YVC) 2025

The African Union Youth Volunteer Corps (AU-YVC) is a continental initiative focused on engaging young Africans in meaningful volunteer service across all 55 member states of the African Union.

The program encourages youth volunteering as a strategic tool to empower young people and enhance their active role in advancing the continent's human development objectives. By fostering the exchange of skills, knowledge, innovation, and learning, AU-YVC contributes to building a more unified and collaborative Africa—strengthening the continent’s position on the global stage.

This initiative aligns with the principles of the African Youth Charter and responds to the decision made by the AU Heads of State and Government under Assembly/AU/Dec.274 (XVI) in January 2010 to establish a continent-wide volunteer program.

AU-YVC was officially inaugurated on December 3, 2010, in Abuja, Nigeria, with attendance from the President of Nigeria, youth ministers from across Africa, senior AU officials, partner organizations, volunteer groups, and young people from around the continent.

AU-YVC Core Objectives

  • Involve African youth in the continent’s growth by enabling them to contribute actively through service-oriented volunteer work.

  • Create pathways for young Africans to acquire vital experience, including professional development, leadership training, interpersonal skills, and international exposure.

  • Foster Pan-African unity and promote common values among the next generation of African leaders.

Don't miss out on the application deadline which is June 30, 2025.
