Awards : Apply For The $2,000 APNI Scholar Award Program for African Graduate Students
Applications are open for the African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI) Scholar Award Program, an initiative designed to support outstanding graduate students in Africa who are conducting research related to plant nutrition and crop nutrient management. The program recognizes academic excellence and encourages the development of scientific research that contributes to improving soil fertility, crop productivity, and sustainable agriculture across the African continent. Each year, the award supports promising students whose work focuses on advancing knowledge in plant nutrition and related agricultural sciences.
The program particularly targets students pursuing advanced degrees in disciplines such as soil science, agronomy, horticulture, and other plant nutrition–related fields. By providing financial support, the award helps young researchers strengthen their academic work and contribute to agricultural innovation and food security in Africa.

Additional Information
The award is granted independently of any other scholarship, assistantship, or funding the student may already be receiving. This allows recipients to continue benefiting from their existing financial support while also receiving the APNI award as recognition of their academic merit and research contributions in plant nutrition sciences.
Applicants must still be actively enrolled in their graduate program by the application deadline. Typically, students in the second year of their Master’s or M.Phil. programs or those currently pursuing PhD studies are eligible to apply. The award is open to students from all African countries, provided they are studying at an African institution. Previous winners of the award are not eligible to apply again.
This means students from any African country can apply, including countries such as:
Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt, Morocco, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Senegal, etc.
