Call for Submissions: 2025 African Fact-Checking Awards

Submissions are now being accepted for the 2025 edition of the African Fact-Checking Awards—the continent’s most established recognition initiative dedicated to excellence in fact-checking journalism.

The awards are open to working journalists, journalism students, and professional fact-checkers based anywhere in Africa.

In 2024, the competition attracted 241 entries representing 29 countries across the continent. An even greater number of submissions is anticipated for the 2025 cycle.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, entries must have been originally published or broadcast between 1 May 2024 and 20 June 2025. Each submission must verify and assess the accuracy of a claim related to a significant topic that originates from or has relevance to Africa, with the final conclusion showing the claim to be either false or misleading.
