CALLING YOUTH IN NETHERLANDS: Apply for the Move 4 Human Rights Youth Trajectory for Change Programme 2026
Applications are open for Move 4 Human Rights (M4HR), a unique programme in the Netherlands that empowers young people to strengthen their voices, build connections, and take meaningful action for social justice. Run by Justice & Peace, this initiative invites students, recent graduates, young professionals, and individuals with a migration or refugee background to join the Youth Trajectory for Change — a space where diverse perspectives come together to spark dialogue and drive community impact.
The four-month trajectory, part of the national Maatschappelijke Diensttijd (MDT) programme, blends training, inspiration, and practical experience. Participants will learn directly from professionals working on issues such as migration, inclusion, and human rights, while also gaining the tools to design and implement their own community impact projects. These projects could take many forms — from hosting a storytelling evening where newcomers and locals share experiences, to launching awareness campaigns on equal opportunities, or creating spaces for dialogue to build trust and connection. No project idea is required in advance, as guidance and mentoring are provided throughout the journey.
M4HR is an opportunity to grow both personally and professionally while contributing to positive change in Dutch communities. All training and workshops are free, and participants gain hands-on experience in fields such as migration, inclusion, and social cohesion. The programme offers the chance to collaborate with peers from a variety of backgrounds, expand professional networks, and receive an official MDT certificate recognizing their contributions. The trajectory is delivered in a hybrid format, with most sessions online and several in-person gatherings in and around The Hague, including the kick-off on Saturday, 25 October.
The programme runs from October to February and requires a total commitment of 80 hours spread across the four months, with flexibility to accommodate participants’ schedules. Young adults between 18 and 30 years old who are based in the Netherlands are encouraged to apply, provided they can attend the in-person sessions and have not previously joined more than two MDT programmes. No prior experience is needed — only a genuine interest in human rights, inclusion, and community-building.
