Apply for the Regional Climate Finance Foundations Development Workshop 2026

Registration is open for the Second Regional Climate Finance Foundations Development Workshop, a free capacity-building opportunity designed to help climate practitioners and other stakeholders strengthen their ability to develop fundable climate projects and navigate climate finance opportunities.

The workshop is being delivered by the Climate Finance Access Network (CFAN), The University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill Campus, and the Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator (CCSA), with support from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

Taking place on 16, 20 and 21 October 2026, the three-day programme will combine two interactive virtual sessions with a final in-person workshop at UWI Cave Hill in Barbados.

About the Workshop

The Regional Climate Finance Foundations Development Workshop builds on an earlier training delivered by CFAN Advisors in March 2026, which focused on helping Caribbean practitioners identify and frame climate projects.

The second workshop will go further into project proposal development for multilateral climate funds while introducing participants to the fundamentals of attracting and mobilising private-sector finance.

The training responds to challenges faced by Caribbean Small Island Developing States, where climate risks are significant but institutions and project developers can face limitations in project preparation and access to finance.

Participants will be introduced to practical tools and approaches that can help turn early-stage climate ideas into stronger investment concepts aligned with Caribbean priorities.

What Participants Will Learn

The workshop will focus on practical skills in climate finance and project development, including:

  • Climate project identification and concept development
  • Developing a strong climate rationale
  • Climate project proposal structuring
  • Understanding multilateral investment criteria
  • Understanding private-sector financing and investment criteria
  • Problem-tree and solution-tree analysis
  • Early-stage climate project development
  • Developing investment concepts tailored to regional climate priorities

Participants will also work with regional case studies and practical exercises to apply the concepts introduced during the sessions.

Workshop Format

The programme will be delivered through a hybrid format over three days.

Day 1 – 16 October 2026: Virtual via Zoom
Day 2 – 20 October 2026: Virtual via Zoom
Day 3 – 21 October 2026: In-person at UWI Cave Hill, Barbados
