Applications are open for the Africa CDC Biomanufacturing Fellowship Programme 2025, a prestigious and fully funded opportunity aimed at strengthening Africa’s capacity in vaccine, diagnostics, and therapeutics manufacturing. This program is designed for professionals already working in the biomanufacturing sector and seeks to equip them with advanced technical, leadership, and research skills to drive innovation across the continent. The fellowship contributes to the African Union’s broader vision of increasing local vaccine production and reducing dependency on external supply chains.

Over a period of two years, selected fellows will gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in biomanufacturing and research and development. The programme is structured in a flexible format, allowing participants to continue working while attending short in-person trainings and virtual sessions. Fellows will also develop competencies in leadership, mentorship, and entrepreneurship, positioning them as future leaders in Africa’s health manufacturing ecosystem.

The fellowship is fully funded and offers a comprehensive package to support participants throughout the program. Selected fellows receive financial support covering return flight tickets for training sessions, daily subsistence allowances during travel, visa costs, and both travel and health insurance. In addition, fellows are provided with a laptop and internet allowance to facilitate participation in virtual learning components. 

Beyond financial support, participants benefit from high-level training, mentorship, and exposure to industry experts in biomanufacturing and research. The program also includes a post-fellowship allowance and provides valuable networking opportunities, helping fellows advance their careers and contribute meaningfully to Africa’s health sector transformation. 
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Africa CDC Biomanufacturing Fellowship Programme, applicants must be citizens of African Union member states, making the opportunity open exclusively to individuals from across Africa. However, candidates must also be working in an active biomanufacturing company within an eligible country that has existing vaccine manufacturing capacity, which is an important condition for participation. 

Applicants are required to hold at least a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as biotechnology, pharmacy, chemistry, biochemistry, or biochemical engineering. In addition to academic qualifications, candidates must demonstrate professional engagement in the biomanufacturing sector and obtain a formal support letter from their employer. They must also be willing to commit time to both virtual and in-person training sessions, possess a valid passport, and be able to secure leave of absence from their workplace when required.
Eligible Countries
The Africa CDC Biomanufacturing Fellowship Programme is open to applicants from all African Union member states. This means individuals from across the African continent are eligible to apply, including countries such as Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and many others within the African Union.
