Program Benefits
Each Global Scholar receives CAD $100,000 in unrestricted research support over two years. Funding may be used flexibly for research, teaching release, student/postdoctoral support, or professional development. Participants also gain leadership and communication training, mentorship opportunities, and membership in an interdisciplinary global network of leading researchers. Additional seed funding is available for high-risk, high-reward collaborative projects.
Eligibility Criteria
The program is open to early-career researchers from any country who have completed a PhD (or equivalent) and hold a full-time independent research position at a higher education or research institution. This position must be secure for the program’s full duration (April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2028). Eligible applicants must have started their first independent position between July 1, 2021, and December 31, 2025. Applicants must demonstrate alignment with one of the CIFAR programs accepting applications this year and be fluent in spoken and written English.
