Successful applicants will receive financial support to implement projects that advance participatory governance in line with the Foundation’s priorities. These grants provide funding that allows civil society organisations to strengthen institutional capacity, scale up existing programmes, and build collaborations across countries and sectors. In addition to financial resources, selected organisations will also benefit from the Commonwealth Foundation’s global network, learning platforms, and opportunities for visibility and knowledge exchange. The grants therefore not only provide monetary assistance but also create a pathway for organisations to expand their reach and long-term sustainability.

The Commonwealth Foundation Grants are open to registered civil society organisations that are based in and working within Commonwealth member countries. Organisations must demonstrate that they are legally registered as not-for-profit entities and that their primary work focuses on advocacy, citizen participation, and social inclusion. Eligible organisations should be directly connected to the communities they serve and able to show strong evidence of their impact in promoting accountable governance. Applicants should also demonstrate how their projects will empower marginalised voices, especially women, youth, and disadvantaged groups, in contributing to policy and decision-making.
