Applications are open for the 2027/2028 French Institutes for Advanced Study Fellowship Programme Fellowship Programme. The programme offers prestigious 10-month research fellowships for outstanding international researchers and scholars who wish to conduct innovative research projects in France. The fellowship will take place across seven French Institutes for Advanced Study located in Aix-Marseille, Cergy, Loire Valley (Orléans-Tours), Lyon, Montpellier, Nantes, and Paris.
For the 2027/2028 academic year, a total of 29 fellowship positions are available. The programme is designed to support high-level academic research in the Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as interdisciplinary research connected to these fields. Fellows will work in an intellectually stimulating environment alongside international scholars, researchers, and academic institutions while enjoying a high degree of academic freedom.
The fellowship provides researchers with the opportunity to develop their projects within France’s leading Institutes for Advanced Study while benefiting from interdisciplinary collaboration, access to research centers, libraries, laboratories, and institutional networks. Fellows are encouraged to align their applications with the scientific priorities and focus areas of their preferred host institute.

The programme follows the Marie Skłodowska-Curie mobility rule. Applicants must not have resided or carried out their primary work or studies in France for more than 12 months during the three years immediately before the application deadline.
The fellowship is open to all disciplines within the Social Sciences and Humanities and also welcomes projects from other research fields that strongly interface with SSH disciplines. Applications from artists who meet the eligibility requirements are also accepted. All applications must be submitted in English and completed through the official online application platform.
