FULLY FUNDED: Apply For The Generation Connect Young Leadership Programme 2026–2027 (In Partnership with Huawei)

Applications are open for the Generation Connect Young Leadership Programme 2026–2027, a global youth empowerment initiative led by the International Telecommunication Union in partnership with Huawei. The programme is designed to support and empower young digital leaders who are driving innovative, community-based digital development projects aligned with global connectivity and sustainable development goals.

This prestigious programme identifies motivated young changemakers who are using digital technologies to create meaningful social impact in their communities. Selected fellows receive mentorship, visibility, capacity-building support, and grant funding to scale their projects while becoming part of a global network of youth digital leaders working to bridge the digital divide.

The initiative runs over a one-year period and provides structured engagement, leadership development opportunities, and access to high-level global platforms connected to the ITU ecosystem.

Program Benefits
The Generation Connect Young Leadership Programme is fully funded. Selected fellows receive a grant of up to USD 10,000 to further develop and scale their digital impact projects. In addition to financial support, participants benefit from structured mentorship provided by experts from ITU and Huawei, helping them refine their strategies, strengthen implementation, and measure impact effectively.

Fellows also gain access to global networking opportunities, leadership training sessions, and invitations to participate in major international events organized within the ITU ecosystem. This exposure allows participants to showcase their work on international platforms, connect with policymakers and industry leaders, and amplify the visibility of their initiatives.

Beyond funding and mentorship, the programme strengthens participants’ leadership, innovation, and project management skills, equipping them with tools to create long-term sustainable impact in their communities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be young individuals between 18 and 28 years old at the time of application who are actively leading or involved in a digital development project with measurable community impact. The programme is open to youth from all countries worldwide, and there are no nationality restrictions. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to digital inclusion, innovation, and sustainable development.

Applicants should already have an existing project or initiative that leverages digital technologies to address local or global challenges. The project should show clear objectives, community engagement, and the potential for growth or scaling. Strong communication skills and the ability to participate in programme activities conducted in English are also expected.

The selection process prioritizes diversity, regional representation, and gender balance, ensuring that young leaders from different backgrounds and regions have equal opportunity to participate.

The Generation Connect Young Leadership Programme (GCYLP) is open to applicants from all countries worldwide — there is no restriction to specific regions or nations. Young changemakers from across every continent are encouraged to apply as long as they meet the programme’s eligibility criteria
