Applications are open for the TIMEP Nonresident Fellowship 2026‑2027, offered by the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP). This fellowship invites advocates, researchers, journalists, and lawyers whose work advances transparent, accountable, and just societies, particularly in or connected to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The program supports impactful, policy‑relevant work while keeping fellows connected to their local environments. Selected fellows will propose and implement original mandates, engage in personalized skills‑building, collaborate with cohort peers, and contribute to media, policy, and event platforms to shape discourse on priority developmental and governance issues.

Program Benefits

Fellows will receive a stipend commensurate with experience while serving in a nonresident capacity over the 12‑month fellowship term, beginning in mid‑May 2026. Fellows are integrated into TIMEP’s global and regional network, gain access to targeted professional development and skills workshops, and collaborate within a diverse cohort working on solutions‑oriented and policy‑relevant programming. The role combines practical engagement with advocacy, analysis, and networking across media and policy platforms.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should have at least five years of relevant work or academic experience in a field related to their proposed focus, and hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. Candidates must be proficient in written and spoken English and Arabic, and demonstrate a strong commitment to TIMEP’s mission of advancing transparency, accountability, and just governance. Applicants should also have connectivity to civil society, grassroots groups, or experts/advocates on‑the‑ground. Preference is given to individuals based in or with significant ties to the MENA region, such as Egypt, Tunisia, Sudan, Syria, Lebanon and neighboring contexts, though all qualified applicants with relevant regional connections may apply.
